Wondering about a player, a past game or another issue involving the Bears? Senior writer Larry Mayer answers a variety of e-mail questions from fans every day on ChicagoBears.com.
Larry: Where is Mike Hart expected to go in the draft? I would love to see him in a Bears uniform. He reminds me of Walter Payton in having a combination of good hands, speed, power, elusiveness, durability, blocking and most of all heart. Do you think the Bears will pick him?
Thom L.
Chicago
Thom: Mike Hart was very productive at Michigan, but I don’t think he’ll have that much success in the NFL. He plays with a lot of heart and determination, but he lacks size and speed. He ran a slow 4.67 in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine, then declined to run the 40 at Michigan’s Pro Day. I don’t think that Hart will be drafted until at least the fourth round.
Larry: Do you think the Bears will consider trading for Chad Johnson? He seems to want to get out of Cincinnati.
Luis V.

Luis: I don’t see that happening. The Bengals have repeatedly insisted that they’re not going to trade Chad Johnson (no matter how much he complains about needing a change of scenery). And if a deal ever does become a possibility, it’ll probably take two first-round picks to pry him away from Cincinnati. I know a lot of people have pointed out that the Patriots acquired Randy Moss in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick, but it’s an entirely different situation. Johnson may speak his mind, but he always gives top effort on the field, something that wasn’t necessarily the case with Moss in Oakland and led to his departure from the Raiders.
Larry: It seems that most NFL teams only carry three running backs on their 53-man roster. We know the Bears want to bring in someone to compete with Cedric Benson, so does that mean that Adrian Peterson or Garrett Wolfe will be cut before the beginning of the season?
Zak
Sandpoint, Idaho
Zak: I don’t think the Bears are going to cut Adrian Peterson or Garrett Wolfe. Assuming they select a running back in the draft, I could see them keeping four on the active roster with Wolfe serving as the No. 3 back and Peterson contributing primarily on special teams.
