Wondering about a player, a past game or another issue involving the Bears? Senior writer Larry Mayer answers a variety of email questions from fans every day on ChicagoBears.com.

With the Bears out of the playoff picture, do you think that they’ll play more young players?

Roger W.
Fort Wayne, Indiana

The Bears are already playing a slew of young players, especially on offense, and although they’ve been all but eliminated from the playoffs, these final five games will be a chance for individuals such as Jay Cutler, Earl Bennett, Devin Hester, Johnny Knox, Matt Forte and Earl Bennett to continue developing as a unit. All of those aforementioned players are 26 years old or younger, and because they haven’t played together that long, they need as much time together on the field as they can get. With that being said, Devin Aromashodu has been getting a few more reps and probably will continue to do so. Defensively, I’m sure the Bears would like to get someone such as Jarron Gilbert on the field. But that’s much easier said than done because you’d have to deactivate a Tommie Harris, Israel Idonije or Anthony Adams.

I’ve heard that the Bears might move Chris Williams to left tackle this Sunday because Orlando Pace is hurting. Do you think that’s a wise move?

Ron T.
Palatine, Illinois

I think it’s absolutely a wise move, and I’ll go a step further: If the Bears think that Chris Williams is their left tackle of the future—and it appears they do—I wouldn’t mind seeing him start the final five games of the season there. That would give him so valuable experience and also provide the Bears with plenty of tape to evaluate moving forward. Williams started all 24 games at left tackle during his junior and senior seasons at Vanderbilt before being selected by the Bears in the first round of the 2008 draft.

I see that Cato June has been assigned the number 59. How can both he and Pisa Tinoisamoa have the same number? I have not read anywhere that Tinoisamoa has been cut. He’s just out for the season with a knee injury.

Ken O.
Wilmington, Illinois

In assigning Cato June No. 59—the same number he wore with the Colts and the Buccaneers—the Bears switched Pisa Tinoisamoa from No. 59 to 49 on their roster.
