LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Selected as one of four NFL "off the field champions," Bears guard Roberto Garza will star in a United Way commercial being shot in South Florida.

Garza will be featured in a seniors assistance spot entitled "Doctor's Waiting Room."

Roberto Garza played in all 16 games with seven starts for the Bears last season.

In the spot, the veteran offensive lineman waits in a doctor's waiting room to take a group of seniors home. When it's time to leave, Garza realizes that he doesn't have enough room in his minivan for the long line of seniors in need of a ride home.

Continuing with the "Lend a Hand" theme that was launched in 2005, this year's series of commercials will convey the message that the problems facing America's communities are too large to be solved by one person alone and asks the viewer for help.

The 2006 series features a sampling of the myriad of ways people can get involved in their communities. The three other players selected to star in the commercials are Steelers safety Troy Polamalu, Jets linebacker Jonathan Vilma and Cowboys safety Roy Williams.

After more than three decades, the NFL/United Way series has featured nearly 1,000 players and coaches and it is the longest-running charitable collaboration of its kind.

The new spots will debut during Week 1 of the 2006 season, kicking off the 33rd year of the NFL/United Way partnership.
