Bears defensive tackle Anthony Adams is spending the week at the Riu Palace Pacifico in Puerta Vallarta, Mexico, on Apple Vacations’ “Back to Da Beach with the Chicago Bears” trip.
Greetings from paradise, Bears fans! I’m down in Puerta Vallarta with five of my teammates—Earl Bennett, Zackary Bowman, Devin Hester, Johnny Knox and Jason McKie. We’re having a great time.

We arrived here last Friday, and the weather has been great. It’s been between 75 and 80 degrees with a nice little breeze. You can’t beat being down here on the beach, especially the way it’s been in Chicago with all the snow we've gotten this winter.
When we first got here, we had a welcoming session with some fans who are along on the trip. We took some pictures and signed autographs. We’ve actually done that throughout the week. We’ve also ran drills on the beach and played 7-on-7. It’s a lot of fun. I got a chance to see what quarterbacks go through.
I’m here with my wife. We left the kids back home with grandma. I think I may do some snorkeling, but nothing too strenuous. After all, I’ve got to preserve this beach body. Ha, ha! I may do some work on my abdominal muscles so everybody can see how big and fit and cut defensive linemen are.
Last Friday was great. Right after when we got here, some of the fans were coming up to me and telling me that the Bears had signed Julius Peppers, Chester Taylor and Brandon Manumaleuna. What a day!
Adding Julius to our line will give us a chance to free some of us up. Our opponents are going to have to double-team him, but you can’t double-team everyone across the line. So a lot of guys are going to be free and then we can create some situations where he gets some 1-on-1s.
I’m really excited about the move. Plus we have coach [Rod] Marinelli as our defensive coordinator now, and he’ll have some creative stuff for us. I can’t wait to get to work. The front four is going to step up and force quarterbacks into making some bad throws.
I’m also excited about Chester Taylor signing with the Bears. I’m real glad I don’t have to play him anymore. He’s a slasher. He’s good at squaring his shoulders. He’ll make it look like he’s going one way and then he’ll make a cut and make you miss. He’s a shifty guy. I’m happy he’s on board.
Well, that’s all for now. I’ll check in again later in the week. Talk to you soon!
