LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The Bears on Wednesday signed fullback Eddie Williams to a one-year contract.

Eddie Williams

Williams was selected by the Redskins in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL Draft (221st overall). The 6-1, 249-pounder from Idaho was released after catching three passes for 18 yards in the preseason, but he opened the season on Washington’s practice squad.

Williams was eventually promoted to the Redskins' 53-man roster Nov. 2 and was inactive for three games before being placed on injured reserve Nov. 23 after breaking his leg in practice. He was among 10 players released by Washington last Thursday.

Williams played tight end, fullback and H-back in four years at Idaho, catching 100 passes for 1,205 yards and 11 touchdowns and rushing for 195 yards and 3 TDs on 19 carries.
