LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The Bears on Tuesday named Dennard Wilson a pro scout.

Dennard Wilson

Wilson joins the Bears from the University of Maryland, where he spent 2007 as the Terrapins' football intern. Prior to his time in College Park, Wilson was the defensive backs coach and passing-game coordinator at DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Md., for three seasons.

Before and during his time at DeMatha, Wilson was also a part of the Washington Redskins roster as a safety (2004-06), although he did not appear in a regular-season game.

Wilson was a four-year letter-winner at Maryland (2000-03) as a defensive back. As a senior, he was an honorable mention All-ACC performer and earned a trip to the 2004 Hula Bowl. He was also named to the 2003 All-ACC Academic team. In 2001, Wilson helped the Terrapins win the ACC Championship and earn their first bowl berth in 11 years with a BCS bid to the Orange Bowl.

A native of Upper Marlboro, Md., Wilson graduated from Maryland in 2004 with a bachelor of arts degree in communications.
