LAKE FOREST, Ill. – After a three-day weekend, the Bears will return to work Monday at Halas Hall to begin preparing for next Sunday night’s home game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
With four losses in their last five games following a promising 3-1 start, tight end Greg Olsen and his teammates know that they must turn their season around immediately.

Staying positive will be a challenge for an offense that was plagued by turnovers and penalties in Thursday night’s frustrating 10-6 loss to the 49ers in San Francisco.
Jay Cutler
threw a career-high five interceptions and the Bears failed to score a touchdown for the first time in 17 games dating back to a 37-3 loss to the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field last Nov. 16.
“We’ve got to take it one game at a time,” Cutler said. “We’ve got to keep believing in what we’re doing. I think with the high character group we’ve got, a lot of leaders in that locker room, I don’t think it’s going to be a problem. I think we’re going to bounce back just fine and we’re going to go out and play hard. Lovie [Smith] is going to get us ready to go. That’s not going to be an issue for us.”
Earning a playoff spot figures to be an uphill battle for the Bears (4-5), who now trail the Minnesota Vikings (8-1) by four games in the NFC North after Sunday's action. There are also six teams ahead of the Bears in the race for two wildcard berths, and they’ve already lost to three of those clubs—the Packers (5-4), Falcons (5-4) and 49ers (4-5).
“Sure, we can make the playoffs,” Smith said. “We have five losses right now. Five losses won’t keep you out of the playoffs. But for us, it’s about getting a win. Philadelphia’s coming up next.
“There are some bright things we can build on. There’s a lot of football left to go. Two 9-7 teams made it in [the playoffs last season]. But that’s a long ways away. As much as anything for us we need to just be able to finish a game and get a win.”
