The Bears on Friday reached agreements with Dowell Loggains (pictured) to become their quarterbacks coach and Glenn Pires to serve as linebackers coach.

The Bears on Friday added two more position coaches, reaching agreements with Dowell Loggains (quarterbacks) and Glenn Pires (linebackers) to join John Fox’s staff.

Dowell Loggains
Loggains served as quarterbacks coach with the Cleveland Browns last year. Prior to that, he spent eight seasons with the Tennessee Titans as a coaching administrative assistant (2006-07), offensive quality control coach (2008-09) and quarterbacks coach (2010-12). Loggains was elevated to offensive coordinator for the final five games in 2012 and served in that role in 2013.

Before joining the Titans, Loggains spent the 2005 season as a scouting assistant with the Dallas Cowboys. His duties included assisting with opponent film breakdown, self-scouting and statistical analysis to be used in game-plan preparation.

Loggains was a four-year letterman as a quarterback at Arkansas from 2000-04.

Pires has 19 years of NFL experience, including the last seven as linebackers coach with the Falcons. Under his tutelage in 2012, Atlanta’s three starting linebackers—Sean Weatherspoon, Stephen Nicholas and Akeem Dent—combined to record 309 tackles, 16 tackles-for-loss, 10 pass breakups, five sacks, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

Before joining the Falcons, Pires spent five seasons with the Miami Dolphins as assistant defensive line coach (2003-04), defensive quality control coach (2005-06) and assistant linebackers coach (2007). During that span he worked with Pro Bowlers Zach Thomas, Joey Porter, Jason Taylor and Adewale Ogunleye.

Prior to that, Pires served as linebackers coach with the Arizona Cardinals (1996-2000) and Detroit Lions (2001-02).

The Bears have now hired 11 coaches, with Loggains and Pires joining Adam Gase (offensive coordinator), Vic Fangio (defensive coordinator), Jeff Rodgers (special teams), Dave Magazu (offensive line), Frank Smith (tight ends), Ed Donatell (defensive backs), Sam Garnes (assistant defensive backs), Derius Swinton (assistant special teams) and Jason George (strength and conditioning).
