The Bears on Monday promoted Kevin Turks to director of pro personnel and Dwayne Joseph to associate director of pro personnel.

Turks joined the Bears as an intern in 2001, assisting in pro and college scouting before being named a pro scout the following year. He remained in that role until being promoted to assistant director of pro personnel in 2008, a position he's held ever since.

Since Turks joined the Bears, they've won four division championships and appeared in two NFC championship games. In 2006, the Bears advanced to Super Bowl XLI.

Turks replaces Chris Ballard, who left to become the Kansas City Chiefs' director of player personnel. Longtime Bears scout Ted Monago also exited for a position with the St. Louis Rams.

Joseph was named assistant director of pro scouting last June, beginning his second stint in the Bears front office. Joseph had spent six seasons in the team's football operations department from 1998-2003, including the last three as director of player development.

Joseph spent eight seasons with the Miami Dolphins, serving as a pro scout for seven of those eight years. He also worked as the team's assistant director of pro personnel in 2007.

Joseph played cornerback for the Bears in 1995, appearing in all 16 games with one start and recording two interceptions.

The Bears on Monday also hired Ryan Kessenich as a scout. Kessenich spent the past four years as an area scout with the Chiefs. Prior to that, he worked at Northwestern from 2006-08 as the coordinator of player development and player personnel.
