The Bears on Thursday signed quarterback Jimmy Clausen to a one-year contract and waived linebacker Lawrence Wilson.

Clausen started 10 of 13 games played during four seasons with the Panthers from 2010-13 after being selected by Carolina in the second round of the 2010 draft out of Notre Dame.

All 13 of his appearances came in 2010 when Clausen completed 157 of 299 passes for 1,558 yards with three touchdowns, nine interceptions and a 58.4 passer rating. He spent last season on injured reserve after tearing the labrum in his right shoulder in the Panthers’ preseason finale.

In 2010, Bears coach Marc Trestman spent a few days helping Clausen prepare for the NFL Combine and also assisted him during his Pro Day workout.

Wilson spent the 2013 preseason with the Bears and the last seven weeks of the regular season on Chicago’s practice squad. He has also had stints with the Panthers (2011), Titans (2012) and Saints (2012), but has never appeared in an NFL regular-season game.
