Hosted by Chicagoland Habitat for Humanity, the event was an unprecedented building blitz in the heart of downtown Chicago. It is bringing volunteers together with partner families to complete the initial construction of 13 homes in four days that will then be taken into communities across the region, where they will be finished and become homes for 13 deserving families to call their own.
The Bears group, which also included former players Bob Christianl and Eric Wright, helped with construction and visited with Habitat partner families.
Bears rookies who participated included
This was the second of many activities that the Bears rookies will participate in as part of the “Rookie Rally” program. The program was created by the Bears’ community relations department to involve the team's first-year players, as a group, in charitable activities throughout the season. It helps the rookies learn more about their new community, serve several worthwhile charitable organizations in the area and bond with their teammates through volunteerism.
