The Bears on Wednesday signed offensive lineman Edwin Williams to a two-year contract extension through the 2013 season. Williams was in the final year of his deal. Terms were not disclosed.
Williams has started the last six games at left guard, joining the No. 1 offense after Chris Williams sustained a season-ending wrist injury.
In Sunday night’s loss to the Packers, Edwin Williams scored his first NFL touchdown when he alertly scooped up a Kahlil Bell fumble in the end zone and also helped the Bears rush for 199 yards, their fourth highest total in Lovie Smith’s eight seasons as coach.
