Chicago Bears introduce Save Da Planet Initiative

The Bears organization is excited to announce an important new environmental initiative, Save Da Planet. The Chicago Bears are committed to doing our part to Save Da Planet by enacting sustainable business practices and raising awareness of conservation issues. Our organization encourages our great fans to engage in environmentally friendly practices and adopt proactive ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle their environmental footprint.

The Chicago Bears are proud to welcome Constellation Energy as the energy provider to Halas Hall, home to the Bears' front office and practice facilities. The partnership includes their support of the Bears new environmental awareness initiative, "Save Da Planet," culminating with their entitlement of the Bears vs. San Diego Chargers game on November 20, 2011. Constellation Energy provided 40,000 Chicago Bears/Constellation Energy eco-friendly tote bags distributed at the game and purchased renewable energy certificates (RECs) to cover the expected energy usage for the game. This helped the Bears and fans attending the event avoid approximately 58.6 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions roughly equivalent to the emissions from 12 passenger vehicles. In addition, Constellation Energy and the Bears gave fans a chance to win Bears tickets and other great prizes through an online contest. After entering the contest, each entrant was given the opportunity to increase his or her odds of winning by entering up to two promotional codes found by visiting Constellation Energys page on Facebook or visiting Constellation Energys account on Twitter.
