Wondering about a player, a past game or another issue involving the Bears? Senior writer Larry Mayer answers a variety of email questions from fans on ChicagoBears.com.Do you think another team will sign Josh McCown next year?
From Micah P. on Twitter
It's going to be interesting to see how much interest Josh McCown attracts in free agency. He performed exceptionally well while replacing the injured Jay Cutler
and could appeal to a team that drafts a young quarterback as a short-term mentor while the rookie gets his feet wet. Others may look at McCown is just a 34-year-old journeyman who thrived because of the players around him and the system he's in. Only time will tell. But that will certainly be a storyline to monitor in March.Do you think the Bears can actually make noise in the playoffs if they make it or will they be one-and-done?
From Patricc on Twitter
The whole key is qualifying for the playoffs. Once you're in, anything can happen. The Giants, Packers and Steelers have proven that over the last several years, squeaking into the post-season and winning the Super Bowl. So if the Bears do make the playoffs, I don't think you should assume they'd be one-and-done. For one thing, they'd be hosting the first game possibly against a team from a warmer climate. And more importantly, their defense has the potential to get better with Lance Briggs
returning and Jeremiah Ratliff getting more reps with each passing week. What do you think has been Phil Emery's best move so far as Bears general manager?
Ryan T.Lombard, Illinois
I think trading up for Alshon Jeffery
could end up being Phil Emery's best move, but at this point I'd have to say acquiring Brandon Marshall
from the Dolphins in exchange for two third-round draft picks. Marshall performed like no Bears receiver I've ever seen in setting franchise records last season with 118 receptions and 1,508 yards. This year he's continued to make impact plays and remains one of the most dangerous receivers in the league.
