Biography

Wheaton has started 22-of-47 career contests in four seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers (2013-16), totaling 107 catches for 1,508 yards (14.1 avg) and eight touchdowns. He also owns 27 kickoff returns for 636 yards (23.6 avg). Since joining Pittsburgh in 2013, Wheaton led all Steelers in receiving average (minimum 80 receptions). He also posted the 4th most receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns on the Steelers dating back to 2013.

Last season with the Steelers, Wheaton was limited to four receptions for 51 yards (12.8 avg) and one touchdown in three games (two starts) due to injury. Wheaton has appeared in three postseason contests with two starts, tallying 12 receptions for 119 yards (9.9 avg). On special teams, he has posted four punt returns for 20 yards (5.0 avg) and four kickoff returns for 78 yards (19.5 avg).

Wheaton originally entered the NFL out of Oregon State as a 3rd round selection (79th overall) in the 2013 NFL Draft with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
