Wondering about a player, a past game or another issue involving the Bears? Senior writer Larry Mayer answers a variety of questions from fans on ChicagoBears.com.
What is the Bears' record when playing on Thanksgiving?
The Bears are 17-15-2 all-time on Thanksgiving. Their last appearance was in 2015 when they beat the Packers 17-13 at Lambeau Field. My personal favorite Thanksgiving game was in 1980 when the Bears stunned the Lions 23-17 in overtime. Vince Evans capped a 94-yard touchdown drive with a 4-yard TD run as time expired in regulation to tie the score 17-17 and Dave Williams followed by returning the overtime kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown to win the game. The Bears first played on Thanksgiving in their first year of existence in 1920, beating the Chicago Tigers 6-0. Red Grange made his Bears debut on Thanksgiving in 1925, rushing for 36 yards in a 0-0 tie with the Chicago Cardinals at Wrigley Field, just five days after playing in his final college game for Illinois.
When, if ever, was the last time the Bears won three games in a 12-day span?
A win over the Lions on Thanksgiving would give the Bears three victories in 12 days for the first time since Nov. 7-18, 2010. That year they beat the Bills 22-19 in Toronto and the Vikings 27-13 at Soldier Field on back-to-back Sundays before blanking the Dolphins 16-0 in Miami on Thursday Night Football. Interestingly, their record after defeating the Dolphins was 7-3, the same mark they have right now. The 2010 Bears won the NFC North with an 11-5 record and reached the NFC Championship Game.
Will Cody Parkey continue to practice at Soldier Field during the week? It seemed to pay very positive dividends for him against the Vikings.
The plan right now is for Cody Parkey to continue to go down to Soldier Field to practice during weeks leading up to home games. Here's what special-teams coordinator Chris Tabor had to say about that on Tuesday: "We'll stay the course with that. I believe that we will. It's something that every week will be different, as the weather changes and those type of things, if the tarp is on and those type of things. But it's something that we'll always talk about and address and I think it helped him. It was good."
