Former Bears offensive line coach Dave Magazu passed away Friday at the age of 64.
Magazu worked as an assistant coach under head coach John Fox with the Panthers (2003-10), Broncos (2011-14) and Bears (2015-16).
"They didn't come any better than Dave Magazu,'' Fox told 9News, the NBC TV affiliate in Denver. "I'm in shock. A great coach who absolutely loved football. I talked to him about two years ago, he was coaching in the Alliance (of American Football) league. He loved it."
In Magazu's first season as Bears offensive line coach in 2015, Kyle Long started all 16 games at right tackle and was selected to his third straight Pro Bowl. In 2016, the line helped open holes for running back Jordan Howard, who was voted to the Pro Bowl after setting a Bears rookie rushing record with 1,313 yards.
Magazu is survived by his wife, Carrie, and their five children.
