Roster Moves: Bears put Goldman, Burns, Kamara on COVID list

Eddie Goldman, Artie Burns and Sam Kamara in action.

The Bears on Tuesday placed nose tackle Eddie Goldman, cornerback Artie Burns and rookie outside linebacker Sam Kamara on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

The trio joins tackle Elijah Wilkinson and defensive end Mario Edwards Jr. on the COVID list. The roster designation was created last year for players who either test positive for COVID-19 or who have been in close contact with an infected person.

Goldman, who opted out of the 2020 season due to COVID concerns, has appeared in 10 games with seven starts this year, recording 18 tackles, one tackle-for-loss and 0.5 sacks.

After missing the entire 2020 season with a torn ACL, he sustained in training camp, Burns has started the last three games after replacing a struggling Kindle Vildor, compiling 16 tackles, one tackle-for-loss and two pass breakups.

Kamara signed with the Bears this year as an undrafted free agent from Stony Brook. He has played in five games, all as a reserve, registering four tackles.

Tuesday's moves further deplete a defense that has lost outside linebackers Khalil Mack, Jeremiah Attaochu and Cassius Marsh Sr., and inside linebacker Danny Trevathan to season-ending injuries.
