The Bears on Tuesday placed outside linebacker Willie Young on injured reserve with a triceps injury he sustained Sept. 28 in a loss to the Green Bay Packers.
Young appeared in the first four games of the season with two starts, recording seven tackles and two sacks. In four years with the Bears, he has played in 50 games with 31 starts, registering 168 tackles, 26 sacks, one interception and two forced fumbles.
Prior to arriving in Chicago, Young spent his first four NFL seasons with the Lions after being selected by Detroit in the seventh round of the 2010 draft out of North Carolina State.
He is the third defensive player who started the season opener for the Bears to be placed on injured reserve, joining inside linebacker Jerrell Freeman and safety Quintin Demps.
