Wondering about a player, a past game or another issue involving the Bears? Senior writer Larry Mayer answers a variety of email questions from fans on ChicagoBears.com.

What is the Bears' record against the two Super Bowl quarterbacks, Peyton Manning and Cam Newton?

Dennis L.
Romeoville, Illinois

We all know what happened in Super Bowl XLI when the Bears faced Peyton Manning and I will get to that in a second. But in regular-season games, the Bears are 2-1 all-time against both Manning and Cam Newton. They beat Manning and the Colts in Indianapolis 27-24 in 2000 and 29-13 in 2008 (in the first game at Lucas Oil Stadium) and lost 41-10 in 2004 at Soldier Field. In those three games, Manning completed 73 of 116 passes for 770 yards with seven touchdowns, two interceptions and a 95.1 passer rating. In a 29-17 win over the Bears in Super Bowl XLI, Manning was solid but not spectacular, connecting on 25 of 38 attempts for 247 yards with one TD, one interception and an 81.8 rating. The Bears beat Cam Newton 34-29 in 2011 in Carolina and 23-22 in 2012 in Chicago and lost 31-24 in 2014 on the road. In those three contests, Newton completed 66 of 120 passes for 943 yards with three TDs, four interceptions and a 75.1 rating.

Other than Mike Ditka, who has won a Super Bowl ring as a player and head coach?

Larry G.
Meridian, Idaho

Former Bears linebacker Ron Rivera can become the fourth man in NFL history to win a Super Bowl as both a player and head coach. The others are Mike Ditka (as you mentioned), Tom Flores and Tony Dungy. Rivera played his entire NFL career with the Bears from 1984-92, winning a championship as a reserve in 1985. He's in his fifth season as Panthers head coach.

Which Bears player has been voted to the most Pro Bowls?

Steve K.
Aurora, Illinois

Mike Singletary was selected to a Bears-record 10 Pro Bowls. Walter Payton is second with nine. And Brian Urlacher, Dick Butkus, Doug Atkins and Bill George are tied for third with eight.
