The Chicago Bears decades series, brought to you by Hilton, is a decade-by-decade look at the history of the Chicago Bears. Throughout the 100th season celebration, each feature coincides with the decade being honored at Soldier Field.

Bears100 Celebration Weekend kicked off with the Orange Carpet brought to you by Hyundai. Fans that attended the Bears100 Celebration Weekend Opening Ceremony viewed live coverage of the Orange Carpet arrivals inside the venue with hosts Lauren Screeden and Anthony “Spice” Adams.

The Opening Ceremony, which celebrated 100 years of Bears football, was emceed by Voice of the Bears on WBBM Newsradio 780 & 105.9 FM Jeff Joniak and former Chicago Bear and current Color Analyst of the Bears on WBBM Newsradio 780 &105.9 FM Tom Thayer. During the program, over 200 current and former Bears players and coaches were recognized and the Bears unveiled the team’s new classic jersey.

Chicago Bears Pro Bowl quarterbacks Jim McMahon and Mitchell Trubisky united to share their experiences as offensive leaders of the NFL’s founding franchise.

Bears Hall of Famers Mike Singletary and Dick Butkus came together to recount their favorite moments as members of the storied franchise’s rich middle linebacker history.

Legendary players and personalities Mike Ditka, Johnny Morris and Bob Wetoska helped Coach Halas clinch his final NFL Championship against the New York Giants at Wrigley Field. Fans heard from the champions themselves as they joined to remember that epic victory.

Fans heard first-hand from members of the 2006 NFC Championship team including Roberto Garza, Olin Kreutz, Patrick Mannelly and Charles Tillman on their epic run to the Super Bowl.

Chicago Bears defensive playmakers Mike Brown, Gary Fencik, Eddie Jackson, and Doug Plank discussed their hard-hitting, record-setting roles as the team’s last line of defense.

Past and present defensive lineman including Dan Hampton, Tommie Harris, Akiem Hicks, Ed O’Bradovich and Chris Zorich united to spotlight the Chicago Bears’ acclaimed defense and discuss the differences and similarities between then and now.

Super Bowl legends Richard Dent, Emery Moorehead, Willie Gault, William Perry and Otis Wilson reminisced about the glories of the ‘85 championship, Super Bowl Shuffle and everything in between.

Kyle Fuller and Charles Leno Jr. shared what it took to claim the 2018 NFC North Division championship and how they will capitalize on the momentum as they challenge for a Super Bowl trophy.

NFL Hall of Fame Sportswriters Don Pierson and Dan Pompei were joined by Virginia Halas McCaskey and George H. McCaskey to provide fans with insight and first-hand knowledge from the Chicago Bears Centennial Scrapbook, which highlights the first 100 years of Chicago Bears history.

At the helm of the Bears’ on-field resurgence and organizational growth, President and CEO Ted Phillips, general manager Ryan Pace and head coach Matt Nagy detailed the expansion of Halas Hall, building the team, future of the franchise, outlook for the 2019 season and more.

Bears Hall of Famer Dick Butkus surprises Khalil Mack with the professional Butkus Award, an honor given to the NFL’s best linebacker. The Award is a vehicle to promote health and wellness initiatives including the Butkus Takes Heart cardiovascular wellness program and the I Play Clean program to champion natural training, nutrition and intensity.

Head coach Matt Nagy delivers the commencement speech to the University of Delaware Class of 2019.

Devin Hester caps a historic rookie season by returning the opening kickoff of Super Bowl XLI versus the Colts 92 yards for a touchdown.

The 1985 Chicago Bears shuffle their way to a 46-10 victory over New England in Super Bowl XX putting an exclamation point on one of the NFL’s greatest seasons. After a 15-1 regular season, Chicago dominates the playoffs by shutting out their first two opponents and combining for a 91-10 margin of victory over three games.

Walter Payton covers 18 yards against the Chiefs on November 11, 1977 in one of the iconic runs of his career. His power and determination were showcased by breaking six different tackles on the attempt.

Bill Osmanski runs 68 yards for a touchdown in the game’s second play from scrimmage to begin the Bears 73-0 rout of the Redskins in the 1940 championship game. The margin of victory still remains a NFL record.
