This is the moment I've dreamt of since I was 10 years old. Twelve years ago, I made the decision that football was going to be the thing I do for the rest of my life. Now, I'm the 2024 No. 1 pick.
My 10-year-old self would be proud because I set a goal at that time and we're here. He would say, "keep going. You made it this far, let's go get it." One goal is accomplished, and we got a couple more to go.
To be in this moment, I'm elated, I'm ready, I'm hungry. Much love for all the support from you Bears fans and everybody back home. Let's get this thing going.
Bears fans, just know we're going to have fun out there on the field so make sure y'all have fun in the stands. Be loud and rowdy. Make them home games the worst away games for any other team, any other quarterback, any other defense. Make it tough on 'em. Let's have fun. Let's do it and let's do it big.
I'm just ready to get back on a team and be in the locker room, learn the playbook, learn everybody's names. That's big for me.
To my new teammates and new team – I'm excited, I'm ready. I know we already have a lot of great players, a lot of vets, a lot of young cats out there. Y'all are older than me, but young cats. Let's go do it. Let's support each other and let's hold each other accountable. Whether it's good or bad – let's hold each other accountable. Let's go do it and let's have fun doing it because that's always what is most important. Let's go win some games.
