The Bears on Tuesday bolstered their offensive line by signing veteran guard Earl Watford to a one-year contract.

Watford, 27, spent his first four NFL seasons with the Cardinals, appearing in 42 games with 22 starts, after being selected by Arizona in the fourth round of the 2013 draft out of James Madison.

Watford played in 15 games with 11 starts in 2016. He signed with the Jaguars as a free agent last March, but failed to make Jacksonville's 53-man roster.

The 6-4, 295-pounder was later re-signed by the Cardinals Oct. 2 after starting guard Mike Iupati was lost for the season with a triceps injury and played in 10 games with nine starts.

Watford is the eighth free agent the Bears have signed from another NFL team since the start of the new league year March 14. He joins receivers Allen Robinson II (Jaguars) and Taylor Gabriel (Falcons), tight end Trey Burton (Eagles), quarterbacks Chase Daniel (Saints) and Tyler Bray (Chiefs), outside linebacker Aaron Lynch (49ers) and kicker Cody Parkey (Dolphins).
