How have draft trades affected Bears?

Wondering about a player, a past game or another issue involving the Bears? Senior writer Larry Mayer answers a variety of email questions from fans on ChicagoBears.com.

How have the trades for the top two picks in the draft affected the Bears' preparation?

The trades that the Rams and Eagles made to secure the top two picks presumably to draft quarterbacks really haven't impacted the Bears very much at all. Here's what general manager Ryan Pace told reporters Wednesday about how the two deals affected the Bears: "We kind of projected that early. It's not surprising to me that that could occur, so it doesn't really throw off our board, it kind of puts it right in line with what we expected."

I've seen some mock drafts that have the Bears picking Ezekiel Elliott. Given that the running back position has seemingly been devalued in recent years in the NFL Draft, do you think the Bears would take him in the first round?

Aaron P.
Waco, Texas

Judging by what general manager Ryan Pace said Wednesday, the Bears would consider selecting Ezekiel Elliott at No. 11 only if they believe he has the chance to be a special player. It's important to note that Pace's comments came after he was asked how he felt about drafting a running back in the first round in general (and not Elliott specifically). Pace said: "I think if you're taking a running back that high, he better have special traits. You better feel that he's going to be a special player. And if he does, then it's worth making that pick."

Have any players by the Bears who have been drafted in the sixth or seventh round made the Hall of Fame?

Jacquel G.

No player the Bears selected in the sixth or seventh round of the draft has ever been enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. But they have had players chosen in Rounds 8 (Richard Dent), 9 (Danny Fortmann) and 12 (George Blanda) inducted in Canton.
