At every home game this season, the Bears have given away $100,000 to a local charity. For the final home game of the year, against the Kansas City Chiefs on December 22, the organization is giving fans the chance to choose.
The winning finalist will take home the full grant, while the other two finalists will be awarded $10,000. Voting is open for one week and will close at noon on Monday, September 23. The winner will be announced on September 25.
THE FINALISTS
The Center for Enriched Living exists so that people with developmental disabilities can be fully included in the community, achieve personal success, and enjoy a good quality of life.
"The $100,000 Bears All-Pros Grant will be used to help adults with developmental disabilities get jobs in the community," said Center for Enriched Living CEO Harriet Levy. "Many people with developmental disabilities want to work, yet there are too few opportunities. People with developmental disabilities have so many talents and skills to contribute to the workforce – a grant like this would be a major boost to expanding those opportunities and getting them successfully employed."
Center on Halsted advances community and secures the health and well-being of the LGBTQ community of Chicagoland.
"A Chicago Bears Community All-Pros grant will provide incredible funding support for Center on Halsted's welcoming and diverse programs and services for Chicagoland's LGBTQ community," said Center on Halsted Manager of Foundation, Corp., and Government Relations Natalie Laczek. "Together, we can help build a thriving LGBTQ community, living powerfully in supportive, inclusive environments."
Mobile Care Chicago's mission is to deliver no-cost medical and preventative care, education, and support to low-income children and families within their native communities aboard mobile medical clinics.
"Mouth pain and asthma are the number one and number two causes of school absenteeism in Chicago, and in some Chicago neighborhoods over 25 percent of children have asthma," said Mobile Care Chicago Executive Director Matt Siemer. "Kids who can't breathe and can't chew have a harder time learning and socializing, are more likely to develop long-term health complications, and often live with chronic pain. Mobile Care Chicago transforms the lives of over 6,000 children each year using Asthma Vans and Dental Vans. Funding from the Chicago Bears is important to us because it would allow us to adopt the medical care of an additional 800 children with health needs. We thank the Chicago Bears for recognizing such an important access issue in Chicago's neighborhoods."
