Will Lawing joins the Bears as an Offensive Analyst in 2026 after most recently serving as the Offensive Coordinator / Tight Ends Coach at Boston College.
Lawing enters his 18th season overall in coaching and ninth season in the NFL. Lawing has previous stops with the New England Patriots (2024), University of Alabama (2021-22), Houston Texans (2014-20), Penn State University (2013) and Juniata College (2009-12).
In 2025 as the offensive coordinator at Boston College, Lawing orchestrated an Eagles offense that finished sixteenth in total passing offense in the country, averaging 280.4 yards per game. In 2024, his first season leading the Eagle offense, Boston College scored 28.2 point per game, the programs best mark since 2019 and finished the regular seasons 7-6, the most victories for the program since 2018. He also aided the development of two offensive linemen who were taking in the 2025 NFL Draft; C/G Drew Kendall, taken in the fifth-round by the Eagles and OL Ozzy Trapilo, who the Bears selected in the second-round and started seven games (playoffs included) for Chicago.
Prior to his time with Boston College, he spent one season (2023) as the Tight Ends Coach with the Patriots after two seasons as an Offensive Analyst with the University of Alabama (2021-22) helping the Crimson Tide reach the 2022 College Football Playoff Finals.
Lawing spent seven seasons on the Houston Texans staff (2014-20), starting as a Defensive Quality Control Coach then Offensive Analyst before spending his final two seasons with the organization as Tight Ends Coach. He helped the Texans capture four AFC South Titles during his time in Houston.
In 2013, Lawing was a Graduate Assistant at Penn State University following four seasons at Juniata College (2009-12). Lawing began as the Tight Ends coach at Juniata, after his first season he was elevated to Pass Game Coordinator then to Offensive Coordinator for his final two seasons.
A native of Lexington, S.C., Lawing played wide receiver at the University of North Carolina from 2004-07 where he was teammates with Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson.
Lawing and his wife, Allie, have one son, Cooper.
