Breck Ackley enters his first season as Director of Player Personnel after spending the last two years as Director of College Scouting for the Chicago Bears. 2026 marks Ackley's 15th season as a member of the Bears organization.
Prior to being named Director of College Scouting in 2024, Ackley served as the Assistant Director of College Scouting, a position he took over before the 2022 season. Ackley initially joined the Bears in 2012 as an Area Scout, covering the middle of the country for two seasons before spending eight seasons in the Southwest region. In 2022, Ackley was one of 10 NFL Scouts honored with the inaugural BART Award, recognizing the NFL's top scouts.
Before transitioning his career to the personnel side, Ackley spent two seasons as a graduate assistant coach, first at his alma mater, Southern University (2010), followed by one season at Southeastern Louisiana University (2011).
Ackley was a standout punter and kicker at Southern University (Baton Rouge, La.) from 2003-06, where he graduated as the program's all-time leading scorer. As a senior, Ackley was named First-Team I-AA All-American by the American Football Coaches Association as a punter and chosen First-Team All-Southwest Athletic Conference as a kicker.
A native of Lake Charles, La. Ackley and his wife Amanda have three children – a daughter, Blair, and two sons, Rhett and Cameron.
