Scott Hagel enters his second season as Senior Vice President of Public and Governmental Affairs for the Chicago Bears in 2025. Initially joining the organization as an intern in 1996, this season will mark Hagel's 30th year of service with the organization.
In his role, Hagel works closely with President and CEO Kevin Warren on the club's relations with local and state government officials and agencies, as well as community leaders and industry stakeholders, to enhance the club's operations and support the evolving, transformative stadium development project. Hagel aids the organization's strategic oversight relative to stadium development, external affairs and regulatory community and governmental engagement.
Prior to his current role overseeing Public and Governmental Affairs, Hagel served as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications (2015-24). Over his 30 years with the organization, starting as an intern in 1999, Hagel ascended through the roles of Public Relations Assistant, then Assistant Director of Public Relations, before being named Director of Public Relations in 2000. Hagel was then promoted to Senior Director of Corporate Communications in 2004, before being elevated to Vice President of Communications in 2011.
During his tenure with the Bears, Hagel's contributions to the Chicagoland community extend to coaching local youth sports and serving as an adjunct lecturer at Northwestern University, where he has taught courses on Sports Public Relations and Crisis Management.
Hagel earned his bachelor's degree from Central Michigan University and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
Hagel and his wife, Charla, have two children – Kaylin and Sean.
