The Bears selected Adam Sheehan with the 45th pick in the second round of the draft.

After playing sparingly at Ashland in 2014, the 6-6, 278-pounder caught 70 passes for 803 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2015 and 57 passes for 867 yards and 16 TDs in 2016. The 16 touchdowns set the Division II single-season record for tight ends.

Shaheen was the tallest and heaviest tight end at the NFL Combine. He also tied for the most bench-press reps at his position with 24. Shaheen initially played basketball as a freshman at Division II Pittsburgh-Johnstown before transferring to Ashland to play football.

Shaheen is the fourth Bears draft pick to sign his contract, joining fourth-round safety Eddie Jackson, fourth-round running back Tarik Cohen and fifth-round offensive lineman Jordan Morgan. The only remaining unsigned pick is first-round quarterback Mitch Trubisky.
