The Bears and Bears Care, the team's charitable arm, have unveiled the 2021 "Real Bears Fans Wear Pink" shirt design in partnership with Advocate Health Care, the Official Health Care Partner of the Bears. Shirts are available for purchase online at ChicagoBears.com/Pink for $30 each starting today; they can also be shipped or picked up at Bears Fit in Vernon Hills or purchased on gamedays in-person at Soldier Field on Oct. 3 and Oct. 17. This year's shirt is a comfortable tri-blend fabric, features short sleeves and is available in unisex sizes.
Proceeds benefit Bears Care and help fund local programs which provide care, assistance and support services to breast cancer patients and their families, including helping facilitate timely access to critical breast health services for low-income women. Over the last 13 years, the shirt campaign has raised nearly $1.4 million to support breast cancer patients and their families.
The Bears and Bears Care will officially recognize National Breast Cancer Awareness Month Oct. 3 when the Bears host the Lions for their Crucial Catch game. The following week, Bears players will wear special white and pink Advocate Health Care patches on their practice jerseys, some of which will be auctioned off to fans via the Chicago Bears Official App brought to you by Verizon; additional details will be announced at a later date.
The Journal of the National Cancer Institute predicts that we could see nearly 2,500 additional deaths this decade, due to pandemic-related disruptions in breast cancer screenings and treatment. If these disruptions persist, that estimate could triple. Fans should visit NFL.com/CrucialCatch for personalized tips on how to reduce their risk of cancer and for information on the importance of early detection.
