Wondering about a player, a past game or another issue involving the Bears? Senior writer Larry Mayer answers a variety of email questions from fans on ChicagoBears.com.

How much will the Bears play their starters in Thursday night's preseason opener?

Dan J.
Indiana

Coach John Fox addressed that topic earlier this week before the Bears broke training camp in Bourbonnais and said that starters will play the first quarter, the second team will play the second and third periods and the third-stringers will play the fourth quarter. The plan after that is for the starters to play the first half in the second preseason game and into the third quarter in the third contest before making a brief appearance in the finale.

Did anything surprise you when the Bears released their first unofficial depth chart this week?

Stan K.
Barrington, Illinois

Not really; it's pretty much what I expected. If I had to pick one surprise, however, it would probably be Jacoby Glenn being listed fourth at one of the cornerback positions. He has broken up a lot of passes in training camp, so I thought he would be higher. Of course, he has a chance to do something about that beginning Thursday night when the Bears host the Broncos.

It seems as though there is at least one picture in training camp highlight photos of receiver Kieren Duncan every day. Is he someone the coaching staff is giving a long look to?

Rob P.
Appleton, Wisconsin

The Bears are certainly intrigued by Kieren Duncan's blazing speed and he's been doing a good job of catching the ball in practice. With the depth the Bears have at receiver, it appears he faces an uphill battle to earn a roster spot barring injuries. But I'm sure he's someone who will be considered for the practice squad.
