Wondering about a player, a past game or another issue involving the Bears? Senior writer Larry Mayer answers a variety of email questions from fans on ChicagoBears.com.
How many game-winning field goals has Robbie Gould kicked with the Bears?
Wally M.
Vancouver, Washington
Robbie Gould's 41-yard field goal as time expired last Sunday against the Panthers was the 10th game-winning kick of his eight-year Bears career. Interestingly, eight of the game-winners have come at Soldier Field, including the last seven. His previous game-winner was a 19-yarder with :04 left to beat the Packers 20-17 on Sept. 27, 2010. Five of the kicks have come in overtime.
Do you think the Bears will give Matt Forte more goal-line touches or maybe run more screens?
From Ron S. on Twitter
I don't see Matt Forte getting more goal-line or short-yardage carries as long as bruising complementary back Michael Bush remains healthy. But I think it's possible we'll see more screens with Forte. It's a great way to get the ball in his hands in space. Here's what quarterback Jay Cutler said this week when asked about employing more screens: "We like screens. We would like to get them called more. We would probably like to be a little more successful at them. We called a few in the Panthers game, [but] caught the wrong coverage. It's a feel thing for an offensive coordinator of when to dial it up and when not to, and I think Mike [Tice] is getting better and better. With our backs and getting Matt on the outside like that, it's something we need to incorporate more."
What is Jay Cutler's record as a starter in his last 20 games?
From Geremy T. on Twitter
Jay Cutler is 15-5 in his last 20 starts dating back to the 2010 season. He's 13-4 the past two seasons, and is 11-1 in his last 12 starts, giving him a .917 winning percentage that is tops among NFL starting quarterbacks during that time.
