What were top three Forte moments?

Wondering about a player, a past game or another issue involving the Bears? Senior writer Larry Mayer answers a variety of email questions from fans on ChicagoBears.com.

I'm going to miss Matt Forte in the Bears backfield. What are your three most memorable Forte moments?

Jimmy S.

All three have to do with his sense of humor and how he'd mess with me—doing an impression of me that made me sound like Kermit the Frog, making fun of the way I smile (see photo) and "accidentally" knocking my recorder out of my hand during a group interview. Of course, I know you were referring to his accomplishments on the field, so I'll go with 1) His 50-yard touchdown run in the very first game of his NFL career in the 2008 opener in Indianapolis; 2) His 89-yard TD on a screen pass in the 2010 opener against the Lions at Soldier Field; and 3) His 166-yard performance in a 2010 win at Carolina when he ran for more than 100 yards in the first quarter and helped the Bears easily win a game in which starting quarterback Todd Collins—subbing for the injured Jay Cutler—completed six passes to the Bears and four to the Panthers!

Outside of Brian Urlacher, who was the last player to start and finish his career with the Bears?

Jacquel G.

The first player who comes to mind is Brian Urlacher's long-time running mate and close friend, Lance Briggs, who played his entire 12-year NFL career with the Bears from 2003-14. Although he always seemed to be overshadowed by Urlacher, Briggs was a great player as well, earning seven trips to the Pro Bowl and helping the Bears win three division championships and one conference title.

Do you see Jeremy Langford carrying the ball 25 times a game in 2016?

Warren L.
Libertyville, Illinois

I fully expect Jeremy Langford to become the Bears' No. 1 running back in 2016, but I think they will still split the workload among Langford and at least one other back, probably Ka'Deem Carey. Throughout his NFL coaching career, John Fox has employed more of a backfield-by-committee approach versus relying on one bell cow back and I expect that to continue with the Bears in 2016.
