Summer is winding down and that means regular-season football is just around the corner.
In real Midwest fashion, there's only one way to close out summer and welcome in football — a block party.
The Chicago Bears will host their third annual Miller Lite Chicago Bears Block Party on Saturday, Sept. 8 in Logan Square to officially kick off the season.
The party will feature plenty of activities for all Bears fans to enjoy. Fans with an appetite will love the tailgate-style food and drinks from Miller Lite's Bar 75 while they discuss the Bears recipe for success before they debut against the Packers on Sunday night.
A studded lineup of musicians will keep the tunes coming all night long. The stage will feature Atlas Genius, Ember Oceans, The Punch, Emo vs Pop Punk DJ Set, BiFunkal, ESSO and Senn Alan Band.
Fans will have the chance to check out a live graffiti artist and participate in the Bears Dive and Catch or test their leg in the field goal simulator. There will also be plenty of giveaways and chances for fans to take pictures in a replica Bears locker room and with Size Me Up displays. Official Bears gear will also be available from the Chicago Bears Pro Shop for fans wanting to grab some swag before the season.
The event is a great time to bring out the whole family. The Bears Drumline and Monster Squad will each make an appearance, and the party will feature a kids zone with a football toss, face painter, balloon artist and tabling with the Chicago Bears Kids Club sponsored by Jewel-Osco and the Crib Club sponsored by PNC.
Former Chicago Bear and current radio color analyst Tom Thayer and play-by-play man Jeff Joniak will be on hand to preview the Bears season.
The event is free for all fans and will be held from noon-10 p.m. on Milwaukee Avenue between North Spaulding Avenue and North Kedzie Avenue. For more information and updates, visit the Block Party event page on ChicagoBears.com.
