Chicago Bears select TE Colston Loveland in first round of 2025 NFL Draft

The Chicago Bears selected University of Michigan tight end Colston Loveland with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Loveland became just the third tight end selected by the Bears in the first round of an NFL Draft in the Common Draft Era

Loveland joins the Bears after starting 24-of-39 career games over three seasons of action at the University of Michigan (2022-24), totaling 117 receptions for 1,466 yards (12.5 avg.) and 11 touchdowns. A two-time All-Big Ten Conference selection for the Wolverines, earning first-team honors in 2023, Loveland led Michigan in receiving with a career-high 56 catches last season, en route to receiving Second-Team All-America recognition. In 2023, Loveland led the Wolverines with 64 receiving yards on three receptions as Michigan claimed victory over Washington in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.

A native of Gooding, Idaho, Loveland, as a senior at Gooding High School in 2021, was named Gatorade Football Idaho Player of the Year, earning all-state and all-conference honors for the third straight season. On the hardwood, Loveland was named first-team all-state as a junior, and also competed in track and field, where he placed fourth in the discus and sixth in the shot put as a junior at the 2021 State Championships.
