The Chicago Bears today announced a promotion and a series of additions to the coaching staff under Head Coach Ben Johnson.
Press Taylor has been elevated to Offensive Coordinator. The Bears have also added Eric Studesville as Running Backs Coach, Will Lawing as Offensive Analyst and Isaiah Ford as Offensive Quality Control Coach.
Taylor enters his second season with Chicago after joining the Bears in 2025 as Pass Game Coordinator. Last season, Taylor helped lead a passing attack that featured QB Caleb Williams setting a franchise single-season record with 3,942 passing yards in the regular season, adding a 361-yard passing performance in the NFC Wild Card Round win over Green Bay, a single-game club record in the postseason. Chicago's offense finished the regular season with the fewest giveaways in the NFL (11), and the second-most points scored off of takeaways in the league (104). Over the final 10 weeks of the regular season, Chicago amassed 109 points in the fourth quarter and OT, the most by any team in the NFL. The Bears culminated the regular season with 441 points scored, third-most in a single season in franchise history.
Taylor joined the Bears after spending three seasons as the Offensive Coordinator of the Jacksonville Jaguars (2022-24). Prior to one season with the Indianapolis Colts (2021), Taylor spent eight seasons in a variety of elevating roles with the Philadelphia Eagles, contributing to a staff that accumulated three NFC North Division titles for Philadelphia, including a World Championship in 2017 after defeating the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII. Taylor was elevated to Quarterbacks Coach in 2018 following the Eagles' World Championship, guiding the Eagles quarterbacks for three seasons with the addition of Passing Game Coordinator duties in 2020. Prior to his eight seasons with the Eagles, Taylor served as a Graduate Assistant at Tulsa (2011-12), working with the quarterbacks. Taylor played quarterback at Marshall (2009-10) after starting his career at Butler (Kan.) Community College (2007-08), where he served as a team captain and led Butler to back-to-back Junior College National Championships with a 17-1 record as a starter.
Studesville returns to the Chicago Bears in 2026 as Running Backs Coach. A 29-year NFL coaching veteran, Studesville returns to Chicago after spending the last eight seasons with the Miami Dolphins (2018-25), most recently serving as Associate Head Coach / Running Backs Coach for each of the last eight years. Prior to his tenure in Miami, Studesville helped lead running back groups for the Denver Broncos (2010-17), Buffalo Bills (2004-09) and New York Giants (2001-03), initially entering the league as a minority coaching fellow with the Bears in 1996, before joining staff full-time in an Offensive Quality Control capacity in 1997, spending the next four seasons with Chicago (1997-2000).
Over the last eight seasons with Miami (2018-15), Studesville, who held Associate Head Coach responsibilities for the final four years, led a Dolphins running back corps that featured two 1,000-yard rushers – De'Von Achane in 2025 and Raheem Mostert in 2023. Achane accumulated the fifth-most rushing yards in the NFL in 2025 (1,350), as Mostert's 1,012 rushing yards in 2023 helped Miami claim the league's No. 3-ranked rushing offense (135.8 rushing yards per game). Over his eight seasons with the Broncos, Studesville helped Denver secure two AFC Championships, as well as a World Championship following the 2015 season. Prior to the NFL, Studesville spent six seasons in the collegiate ranks, starting as a graduate assistant, following his playing career as a defensive back at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Lawing joins the Bears after spending the last two seasons as Offensive Coordinator and Tight Ends Coach at Boston College (2024-25). Prior to Boston College, Lawing spent the 2023 season guiding the Tight Ends group for the New England Patriots, as Patriots TE Hunter Henry totaled the second-most receiving yards by any New England pass-catcher in 2023 and totaled six receiving scores, tied for second-most among all NFL TEs. Lawing spent two years as an Offensive Analyst at the University of Alabama (2021-22), helping the Crimson Tide win the Southeastern Conference and reach the CFP National Championship Game in 2021, before winning the Sugar Bowl in 2022. Prior to Alabama, Lawing spent seven seasons with the Houston Texans (2014-20), starting in a Defensive Quality Control capacity (2014-16), before contributing as an Offensive Assistant (2017-18), then elevating to Tight Ends Coach (2019-20). Over his seven years in Houston, the Texans claimed four AFC South Division titles.
Lawing entered the coaching ranks in 2009 at Juniata College, spending four seasons in a variety of offensive coaching roles, culminating with Offensive Coordinator responsibilities over his final two seasons (2011-12) before serving as a Graduate Assistant at Penn State (2013). A native of Boone, N.C., Lawing played four seasons at the University of North Carolina (2004-07), contributing as a wide receiver on a Tar Heels team that featured then-QB, and now Bears Head Coach, Ben Johnson.
Ford joins the coaching staff in 2026 in an Offensive Quality Control capacity. Prior to Chicago, Ford appeared in 32 career games as a wide receiver for the Miami Dolphins, entering the league as a seventh-round selection (237th overall) by Miami in the 2017 NFL Draft. Ford totaled five years of action with the Dolphins, also spending time with the New England Patriots (2020), Indianapolis Colts (2022) and Chicago Bears (2023). Ford totaled 63 receptions for 681 yards (10.8 avg.) and two receiving touchdowns over his NFL tenure. A two-time All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection, including first-team honors in 2015, Ford played three seasons at Virginia Tech (2014-16), becoming the program's all-time leader in career receiving touchdowns (24), single-season receiving touchdowns (11; 2015), single-season receiving yards (1,164; 2015) and single-season receptions (79; 2016).
