The Bears on Friday signed receivers Reggie Davis and Jester Weah to reserve/future contracts.
Davis played with Bears receivers Javon Wims and Riley Ridley at the University of Georgia and spent time with the Atlanta Falcons, Cleveland Browns, Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys between 2017-19. He has spent the last two training camps with the Bears and spent the 2020 season on the team's practice squad.
Weah played at the University of Pittsburgh from 2014-17 and spent time with the Houston Texans and Washington Football Team in 2018-19. He was not on an NFL roster in 2020.
Edwards suspended: In other news Friday, Bears defensive end Mario Edwards Jr. was suspended without pay for the first two games of the 2021 regular season for violating the NFL policy on performance-enhancing substances. He will be able to participate in preseason practices and games.
Edwards appeared in 15 games, all as a reserve, in his first season with the Bears in 2020, registering 17 tackles and a career-high 4.0 sacks. The six-year NFL veteran is due to become an unrestricted free agent in March.
