Top 10: Bounce-back wins
With the Bears looking to rebound from Sunday's loss to the Colts Thursday night when they host the Buccaneers, senior writer Larry Mayer ranks the Bears' top 10 bounce-back wins that he's witnessed.

(10) Bears 28, 49ers 20
Sept. 14, 2014 at Levi's Stadium
One week after a season-opening 23-20 overtime loss to the Bills at Soldier Field, the Bears outscored the 49ers 21-0 in the fourth quarter as Jay Cutler threw three touchdown passes to turn a 20-7 loss into a 28-20 win. Two of the TDs came after rookie cornerback Kyle Fuller intercepted a pair of Colin Kaepernick passes.

(9) Bears 19, Eagles 16
Oct. 21, 2007 at Lincoln Financial Field
One week after losing to the Vikings 34-31 on Ryan Longwell's 55-yard field goal as time expired at Soldier Field, the Bears rallied to beat the Eagles 19-16 in Philadelphia on Brian Griese's 15-yard touchdown pass to Muhsin Muhammad with :09 remaining. Griese passed for 322 yards and posted a 97.8 passer rating in the game.

(8) Bears 14, Packers 13
Nov. 7, 1999 at Lambeau Field
One week after falling behind 45-0 in a 48-22 road loss to the Redskins—and six days after the passing of legendary Hall of Famer Walter Payton—the Bears stunned the Packers as Bryan Robinson blocked Ryan Longwell's 28-yard field-goal attempt as time expired to preserve a 14-13 win. After the game, Robinson credited Payton with lifting him off the ground to block the kick.

(7) Bears 28, Vikings 3
Oct. 16, 2005 at Soldier Field
One week after allowing two fourth-quarter touchdown passes in a disheartening 20-10 loss to the Browns in Cleveland that dropped their record to 1-3, the Bears hammered the Vikings 28-3. The defense recorded two interceptions and four sacks of quarterback Daunte Culpepper. It was the first of eight straight wins that helped catapult the Bears to the first of three division titles under coach Lovie Smith.

(6) Bears 28, 49ers 27
Oct. 28, 1979 at Candlestick Park
One week after blowing a 27-17 fourth-quarter lead in a 30-27 loss to the Vikings in Minnesota, the Bears rallied to beat the 49ers in a game that featured six lead changes. Trailing 27-21, Mike Phipps threw a 48-yard touchdown pass to James Scott late in the fourth quarter. The win started a stretch of seven victories in eight games that earned the Bears a wild card berth in the playoffs.

(5) Bears 20, Chargers 17 (OT)
Oct. 25, 1981 at Soldier Field
The Bears were embarrassed in a 48-17 loss to the Lions on Monday Night Football as unheralded Detroit quarterback Eric Hipple passed for four touchdowns and ran for two more scores in his first NFL start. But six days later the Bears—as a double-digit underdog—stunned the Chargers and their potent "Air Coryell" offense in a 20-17 overtime win on John Roveto's 26-yard field goal. Future Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Fouts completed just 13 of 43 passes and was intercepted twice.

(4) Bears 24, Seahawks 17
Sept. 17, 2018 at Soldier Field
One week after blowing a 20-0 lead in a crushing 24-23 season-opening loss to the Packers in Green Bay, the Bears gave Matt Nagy his first win as coach as Mitchell Trubisky threw two touchdown passes and Prince Amukamara intercepted a Russell Wilson pass and returned it 49 yards for a game-clinching TD midway through the fourth quarter.

(3) Bears 15, Rams 6
Dec. 9, 2018 at Soldier Field
One week after dropping a 30-27 overtime heartbreaker on the road to the Giants, the Bears defense dominated an explosive Rams offense. The unit did not allow a touchdown and produced four interceptions and a safety. Tackle-eligible Bradley Sowell scored the game's only touchdown on a 2-yard reception from Mitchell Trubisky on a gadget play that was dubbed "Santa's Sleigh."

(2) Bears 40, Vikings 14
Dec. 20, 2010 at TCF Bank Stadium
One week after a humbling 36-7 home loss to the Patriots, the Bears clinched the NFC North with a resounding win over the Vikings on an icy field at the University of Minnesota. Devin Hester set the NFL record for combined kick returns with a 64-yard punt return touchdown. It was the final career game for Brett Favre, who exited with a head injury after getting slammed to the frozen turf on a sack by Corey Wootton.

(1) Bears 28, Chiefs 27
Nov. 13, 1977 at Soldier Field
One week after getting drubbed by the Houston Oilers 47-0 in the Astrodome, the Bears rallied from a 17-0 halftime deficit to stun the Chiefs on Bob Avellini's 37-yard touchdown pass to Greg Latta with :03 remaining in regulation. After a 3-5 start, it was the first of six straight wins to finish the season as the Bears earned a wild card berth.
