The Bears on Wednesday signed defensive back Jonathon Mincy to a reserve/future contract.

Mincy, 25, spent the past two seasons in the Canadian Football League with the Montreal Alouettes, winning the team's most outstanding rookie award in 2016. In his two years, the Georgia native appeared in 32 games and recorded 108 tackles, three interceptions and two forced fumbles.

Mincy was named one of three CFL performers of the week following last year's season opener after he registered a key interception and five tackles in a 17-16 win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Mincy signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent in 2015 out of Auburn, where he was a second-team All-SEC selection in 2014. But he was released prior to the start of the regular season.

Mincy is the eighth player the Bears have inked to a reserve/future contract since the end of the regular season. The others, all of whom signed Jan. 1, are offensive linemen Travis Averill and Will Pericak; receivers Demarcus Ayers, Tanner Gentry and Mekale McKay; defensive back Doran Grant; and tight end Colin Thompson.
