Bears ink Redford Jones to reserve/future deal

The Bears on Monday signed kicker Redford Jones to a reserve/future contract.

In three seasons at the University of Tulsa from 2015-17, Jones converted 74.6 percent of his field-goal attempts (50-of-67) with a long of 51 yards and 98.3 percent of his extra-point tries (169-of-172).

Jones is the 15th player the Bears have signed to a reserve/future contract this month.

The group includes 10 prospects that spent part or all of the 2018 season on the Bears practice squad in running back Ryan Nall, receivers Tanner Gentry and Cyril Grayson, offensive linemen Dejon Allen and Willie Beavers, defensive lineman Abdullah Anderson, linebacker Josh Woods, and defensive backs John Franklin III, Michael Joseph and Jonathon Mincy.

The Bears also signed three players from the Canadian Football League in receiver Jordan Williams-Lambert and linebackers Jameer Thurman and James Vaughters.

The most experienced NFL player the Bears have inked this month is offensive tackle Cornelius Lucas, who has appeared in 37 games with eight starts in five seasons with the Lions (2014-16), Rams (2017) and Saints (2018).
