The Bears on Thursday signed veteran defensive end ï»żRasheem Greenï»ż to a one-year contract.
Green, 25, spent his first five NFL seasons with the Seahawks (2018-21) and Texans (2022). The 6-4, 279-pounder has appeared in 69 games with 29 starts, recording 136 tackles, 17 tackles-for-loss, 17.0 sacks, three fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles and eight pass breakups.
Green was selected by Seattle in the third round of the 2018 draft out of USC. His most productive NFL season was in 2021 when he registered career highs with 17 games played, 16 starts, 48 tackles, six tackles-for-loss, 6.5 sacks and eight pass breakups.
Green is the 11th free agent the Bears have signed this offseason. He joins linebackers ï»żTremaine Edmundsï»ż, ï»żT.J. Edwardsï»ż and ï»żDylan Coleï»ż; running backs ï»żD'Onta Foremanï»ż and ï»żTravis Homerï»ż; guard ï»żNate Davisï»ż; quarterback ï»żP.J. Walkerï»ż; tight end ï»żRobert Tonyanï»ż; defensive end ï»żDeMarcus Walkerï»ż and defensive tackle ï»żAndrew Billingsï»ż.
The Bears also acquired receiver ï»żDJ Mooreï»ż along with four draft picks from the Panthers in exchange for the No. 1 selection in the draft.
