Roster Moves: Bears put Cohen on IR, elevate Pierce

The Bears on Tuesday officially placed running back Tarik Cohen on injured reserve and filled his roster spot by promoting rookie running back Artavis Pierce from the practice squad.

Cohen will miss the rest of the season after tearing his right ACL in Sunday's win over the Falcons. He was injured after fair-catching a punt when Atlanta's Brian Hill rolled into his leg. Officials picked up a penalty flag that was thrown on the play, ruling that Hill was blocked into Cohen.

Pierce signed with the Bears in May as an undrafted free agent out of Oregon State, where he rushed for 2,127 yards and 15 touchdowns on 366 carries. Last season the 5-11, 208-pounder appeared in 12 games with seven starts, rushing for 873 yards and six TDs on 146 attempts.

The Bears on Tuesday also signed linebacker Sharif Finch and defensive lineman Terry Beckner to their practice squad.

Finch appeared in 23 games with three starts with the Titans in 2018-19, registering 40 tackles, 3.5 sacks, six tackles-for-loss, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. He entered the NFL with Tennessee as an undrafted free agent from Temple.

Beckner was selected by the Buccaneers in the seventh round of the 2019 draft out of Missouri. He spent part of last year on Tampa Bay's practice squad but has not appeared in an NFL regular-season game.
