The Bears on Tuesday reached the NFL's mandatory 80-man roster limit by waiving running back CJ Marable, guard Dareuan Parker and tackle Badara Traore; and placing safety Jordan Lucas and defensive tackle Mike Pennel Jr. on injured reserve.

Marable and Parker signed with the Bears this year as undrafted rookies. Traore joined the team as an undrafted free agent in 2020 and spent most of his rookie season on the practice squad.

Lucas signed with the Bears last year after spending his first four NFL seasons with the Dolphins (2016-17) and Chiefs (2018-19), but he opted out of the 2020 campaign due to COVID-19 concerns.

Pennel signed with the Bears June 18 after spending his first seven NFL seasons with the Packers (2014-16), Jets (2017-18) and Chiefs (2019-20).

Final cuts are due by 3 p.m. next Tuesday when NFL teams are required to trim their rosters to 53. The final cutdown comes four days earlier than in past years after the NFL eliminated the fourth and final week of preseason games.
