The Bears on Thursday waived receiver Javon Wims and re-signed cornerback Dionte Ruffin.

A 2018 seventh-round draft pick from Georgia, Wims appeared in 33 games with seven starts over three seasons in Chicago, catching 28 passes for 266 yards and two touchdowns.

Last season Wims played in 13 games with one start, registering six receptions for 48 yards and one TD. He was ejected from a Week 8 loss to the Saints after punching defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson.

The Bears are deep at receiver. Allen Robinson II, Darnell Mooney and Marquise Goodwin are listed as starters on the depth chart, while backups battling for playing time and roster spots include Damiere Byrd, Rodney Adams, Riley Ridley, Jon'Vea Johnson, Chris Lacy, Isaiah Coulter and rookie Dazz Newsome.

Ruffin rejoins the Bears after being waived Aug. 16. He originally signed with the team May 13 as an undrafted free agent from Western Kentucky. Last season he started every game for the second straight year for the Hilltoppers and was named second-team all-Conference USA after registering his first two interceptions and a career-high 10 pass breakups.
