The Chicago Bears on Saturday announced that the club has activated defensive back Kyler Gordon from Reserve/Injured; Designated for Return.
The Bears have also elevated tight end Nikola Kalinic and linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin from the practice squad for Saturday night's NFC Wild Card Round game against the Green Bay Packers. Per NFL regulation, standard elevations revert back to the practice squad following the game.
Additionally, offensive lineman Braxton Jones (Knee) has been downgraded to OUT and remains on Reserve/Injured; Designated for Return.
Gordon has appeared in 45 career games (35 starts) with the Bears over his four professional seasons (2022-25). Since joining Chicago as a second-round selection (39th overall) in the 2022 NFL Draft, Gordon has totaled five interceptions and 17 passes defended, along with 2.5 sacks, a pair of forced fumbles and 10 tackles for loss. In 2024, Gordon started 13-of-15 outings, registering a career-high and team-best three fumble recoveries, along with a career-best 75 tackles (48 solo), including four tackles for loss. Gordon became one of only two Bears defenders (Urlacher) since the turn of the century to tally multiple tackles for loss and at least five passes defended in each of their first three professional seasons.A native of Mukilteo, Wash., Gordon played four seasons at the University of Washington (2018-21), appearing in 33 games for the Huskies. As a senior in 2021, Gordon totaled career-highs in tackles (46), passes defended (nine) and tackles for loss (two), earning First-Team All-Pac-12 Conference honors.
Kalinic spent the entirety of the regular season on Chicago's practice squad, appearing in two games for the Bears. In his two regular-season outings with Chicago this season (Weeks 12 and 18), Kalinic recorded three total special teams tackles and a forced fumble on special teams. Kalinic has appeared in 11 career NFL games for the Indianapolis Colts (2022), Los Angeles Rams (2024) and Bears (2025), seven of which occurred as a member of the Colts, logging two starts at tight end. Prior to joining Chicago's practice squad, Kalinic spent the 2025 offseason with the Atlanta Falcons after two seasons with the Los Angeles Rams (2023-24). Prior to the NFL, Kalinic played three seasons for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL, appearing in 30 games and helping Hamilton appear in back-to-back Grey Cups. Kalinic prepped at York University in Toronto (2015-18), totaling 39 career receptions for 439 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Reeves-Maybin, who is in his ninth NFL season in 2025, initially joined the Bears prior to Week 12, appearing in three games with Chicago, before returning to the practice squad in advance of the NFC Wild Card Round. Reeves-Maybin has appeared in 117 career regular-season games (14 starts), as well as four postseason outings, for the Bears (2025), Lions and Houston Texans (2022) since entering the league as a fourth-round selection (124th overall) by Detroit in 2017. Reeves-Maybin has amassed 160 tackles (109 solo), including nine tackles for loss, five forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries defensively, adding 63 career special teams tackles. In 2023, Reeves-Maybin earned AP Second-Team All-Pro status and Pro Bowl recognition for his performance on special teams. A native of Clarksville, Tenn., Reeves-Maybin appeared in 41 career collegiate games at Tennessee (2013-16), amassing 240 tackles (149 solo), including 27 tackles for loss, earning Second-Team All-Southeastern Conference honors in 2015.
