Roster Moves: Wilkinson activated from COVID list

Bears OL Elijah Wilkinson in action.

The Bears on Friday activated veteran tackle Elijah Wilkinson from the reserve/COVID-19 list, where he had been since Nov. 26.

Wilkinson signed with the Bears this year after spending his first four NFL seasons with the Broncos. He has appeared in 11 games with one start--which came at right tackle Oct. 17 against the Packers. The 6-6, 322-pounder was set to make a second straight start a week later in Tampa, but he was placed on the COVID list hours before kickoff.

Wilkinson has had three separate stints on the COVID list this season.

In addition to Wilkinson, veteran tackle Germain Ifedi also returned this week, practicing Thursday for the first time since injuring his knee Oct. 10 in a win over the Raiders. The Bears have three weeks to activate Ifedi off injured reserve, but coach Matt Nagy said Thursday "there's a chance" Ifedi could play Monday night against the Vikings.

The Bears on Friday also signed cornerback Michael Joseph to their practice squad. Joseph originally joined the team in 2018 as an undrafted free agent from Dubuque. After spending most of 2018 and 2019 on the practice squad, he was added to the 53-man roster for the final two weeks of the 2019 season but did not see any game action.
