Roster Move: Bears claim WR Finke off waivers

The Bears on Wednesday claimed receiver Chris Finke off waivers from the Chiefs.

Finke entered the NFL with the 49ers in 2020 as an undrafted free agent from Notre Dame, where he played with Bears tight end Cole Kmet. Finke spent part of the year on San Francisco's practice squad but did not appear in a regular-season game.

The 5-10, 184-pounder signed with the Chiefs in May 2021, but he sustained an injury during OTAs and was ultimately waived with an injury settlement. Kansas City re-signed Finke to a reserve/future deal Jan. 19, but he was waived Tuesday. Bears general manager Ryan Poles was the Chiefs' executive director of player personnel last year when they signed Finke.

The Ohio native appeared in 47 games over four seasons at Notre Dame from 2016-19, catching 106 passes for 1,251 yards and eight touchdowns. He arrived at Notre Dame as a walk-on in 2015, but did not see any game action as a freshman.
