Bears add defensive end Lane

The Bears on Monday signed defensive end Austen Lane to a one-year contract.

The 6-6, 265-pounder has appeared in 30 career games with 17 starts in four seasons with the Jaguars (2010-12) and Lions (2013), recording 46 tackles, three sacks and one forced fumble.

Lane was selected by the Jaguars in the fifth round of the 2010 draft out of Murray State. He played in 11 games with nine starts as a rookie, registering 17 tackles. During Lane's three years in Jacksonville, Bears defensive coordinator Mel Tucker served in the same role with the Jaguars.
