Bears begin prepping to face Cowboys

Two days after losing their home opener to the Eagles 29-14, the Bears return to the practice field Wednesday to begin preparing for Sunday night's road game against the Dallas Cowboys.

One of eight winless NFL teams, the Bears (0-2) will travel to Texas for the second time in three weeks after dropping their season opener to the Houston Texans 23-14 on Sept. 11.

The Bears will look to avoid an 0-3 start for the second straight season against the Cowboys (1-1), who lost at home to the Giants 20-19 before beating the Redskins 27-23 on the road.

Bears wide receiver Alshon Jeffery has nine catches and 201 yards so far this season.

Dallas has dropped eight straight home games dating back to last year's season opener and is 2-14 since 2011 without starting quarterback Tony Romo, who is sidelined with a back injury.

The Cowboys offense features two rookies in quarterback Dak Prescott and running back Ezekiel Elliott, the fourth pick in the draft. In two games, Prescott has passed for 519 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions and Elliott has rushed for 134 yards and two TDs on 41 carries.

The Bears trail the all-time series with the Cowboys 14-11 but have won three of the last four games between the teams. Dallas won the last meeting 41-28 on Dec. 4, 2014 at Soldier Field.

The Cowboys scored 28 unanswered points in just under 13 minutes spanning the second and third quarters to take a commanding 35-7 lead. Dallas outrushed the Bears 194-35 and scored on its final seven possessions with five TDs and two field goals before taking a knee to kill the clock.

The Bears are 2-0 at AT&T Stadium, the site of Sunday night's contest, having defeated the Cowboys 27-20 on Sept. 19, 2010 and 34-18 on Oct. 1, 2012.

After Week 2, the Bears rank 31st in offense (tied for 25th rushing and 29th passing) and 9th in defense (22nd against the run and 6th versus the pass). The Cowboys rank 15th in offense (tied for 13th rushing and 17th passing) and 18th in defense (13th versus the run and 18th versus the pass).

ChicagoBears.com will provide all the latest news throughout the week from Halas Hall. Coach John Fox will address the media Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio and special-teams coordinator Jeff Rodgers will be available Wednesday, while offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains will speak Thursday.
