Bears sign punter Spencer Lanning

The Bears on Saturday signed punter Spencer Lanning and waived defensive tackle Brandon Dunn in advance of Sunday's home game against the Raiders.

Lanning spent the past two seasons with the Browns, averaging 43.8 yards on 84 punts in 2013 and 44.3 yards on 93 punts in 2014. He was waived by Cleveland in June and has since had short stints with the Buccaneers and Broncos.

Lanning originally entered the NFL with the Bears in 2011 as an undrafted free agent from South Carolina, but failed to make the 53-man roster. He spent time during the 2012 offseason with the Jaguars, Browns and Jets.

The Bears' regular punter, Pat O'Donnell, was limited in practice all week with a knee injury he sustained in last weekend's loss to the Seahawks and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Raiders.

Dunn was promoted from the practice squad to the active roster last Saturday, but he was inactive against the Seahawks. Dunn signed with the Bears last year as an undrafted free agent from Louisville. He played in three games as a rookie, recording three tackles.
